Stray News: Popcaan Nominated For MOBO Award / Judge Denies Buju Banton's Request To Be Absent From Sentencing Hearing

The 17 Music of Black Origin, MOBO Awards 2012 ceremony will take place on November 3 at the ECHO Arena in Liverpool, England. Five Jamaicans have been nominated for the Best Reggae category.

Sean Paul heads the list which also includes, Damian Marley, Mr. Vegas, Popcaan and Konshens. Nominations for some of the categories are listed below….

Judge Denies Buju Banton's Request To Be Absent From Sentencing Hearing

Reggae star buju banton requested that he be absent from his court hearing next month. However, a judge issued an order stating that the artiste be present at the hearing.

The sentencing on the firearm charge is slated to take place on October 30 In the US district court, tampa florida.

He recently appealed his 10-year sentence after being found guilty on cocaine related charges. However, that appeal was thrown out by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta Georgia.

The deejay could face an additional five years on the firearm charge if found guilty.

Buju Banton is currently housed at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Miami, a low security prison.
